1861 Glove Manufactory

In 1861, master glovemaker János Hamerli established his workshop in Pécs, Hungary — a city that has held the title of European capital of glove making for over 160 years. From that founding moment, a tradition was born that has been passed down through generations of skilled craftsmen, surviving the most turbulent chapters of European history without losing a single stitch of its craft.

Today, 1861 Glove Manufactory continues to produce its gloves in the same historic atelier in Pécs, using the traditional table-cut method — a technique dating back to 17th century France, in which each glove is cut individually by hand from a single leather hide, one pair at a time. The leathers are ethically sourced from the finest tanneries in Italy and France, and finished with linings of 100% silk or cashmere for a feel that is as luxurious on the inside as it is refined on the outside. The result is a glove that fits like a second skin.

In a world where glovemaking at this level is practiced by only a handful of true masters, 1861 Glove Manufactory stands as one of the last custodians of a craft that is as rare as it is beautiful.

At Neve Antwerp, we carry 1861 Glove Manufactory as a testament to our belief that the finest accessories come from the finest traditions — wherever in Europe those traditions are rooted.
